1,300 Acre ‘Flowerdew Hundred’ Estate Hits the Market for $10.3M in Hopewell, VA

1800 Flowerdew Hundred Road, Hopewell, Virginia, United States, 23860

Welcome to Flowerdew Hundred, a historically significant piece of property in Virginia on the market for $10,395,000. Spanning 1,322 acres with 3.6 miles of frontage on the James River, this historic estate dates back to c.1618 when it was granted to Governor George Yeardley who named the property for his wife, Temperance Flowerdew and it became one of the earliest English settlements in the new world. The original home on the property was torn down in 1955, however a magnolia planted in c.1840 still survives in the yard of the current mansion. The 14,431 square foot residence was built in the 1990s as a home of a long time benefactor of the University of Virginia and includes a total of thirteen bedrooms, nine full bathrooms & three half-baths. The first floor houses an expansive living area, a large kitchen with butler’s pantry and a pool room. Totalling just over 1,322 acres, the property has broad, sweeping views overlooking the farmland and the James River. Also on the property is an old school house, museum, pavilion, several barns and granaries. It is on the market for $10,395,000.
