1950’s Rancher Transformed into Contemporary Dream Home by Christopher Architecture & Interiors

Mountain Brook, Alabama, United States

A relatively small rancher in Alabama’s affluent neighbourhood of Mountain Brook has been drastically transformed into a spectacular contemporary home. The project was brought to life by Alabama based firm Christopher Architecture & Interiors with landscape design by Jenny Carpenter. The small lot and zoning restrictions required the firm to maintain the footprint of the existing house rather than starting new. Chris Reebals told Alabama.com that the foundation, some framing and even some brick was carried over to the new design. Christopher Architecture & Interiors: “A thoughtful and intentional marriage of glass and stone shape the façade of this award-winning design. Texas and Indiana limestone, steel doors, and Alaskan Cypress roofing are expressive of the natural material pallet chosen by Christopher Ai.” The home is about 4,500 square feet.
