50,000 Sq. Ft. Riverfront Mansion Currently Under Construction in Fort Langley, BC

Fort Langley, British Columbia, Canada

You won’t see much from the streetside but from the banks of the Fraser River you can get a good idea as to just how large this undertaking really is. That’s just what we did. West Coast Marine Adventures took us out on their gorgeous 42 foot Nordic Tug named Roy Peever for a closer look. The 5.4 acre property is being developed by Vancouver Mansions, a local construction company that specializes in homes over 10,000 square feet. Property records reveal that the land previously included a large 9,000 square foot home with 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms which was last listed for $7,800,000 CAD. That home has since been demolished. According to Vancouver Mansions, it is being built to withstand a magnitude 12 earthquake and is built entirely out of concrete except for the wood trusses. The amenities list is quite substantial. There will be a 20 seat home theatre, ten pin bowling alley, golf simulator room, three storey slide around a circular glass elevator, a full wall glass aquarium with integrated wine storage, a private tea room, central meditation courtyard and a 90 foot yacht dock on the Fraser River. Work is currently underway and expected to be completed in early 2019. While it is currently unknown who might be building such an extravagant property in Fort Langley, there were rumours circulating that it may be Canadian singer and songwriter KD Lang. Those rumours were squashed when we reached out to the artist, she simply told us, “nope”. Whoever it is, they have some tough competition for best house on the river. Right next door is a spectacular 6 acre estate known as Derby Lodge. That property is owned by Jack Lee, a Canadian businessman who ran a sizeable landscaping company for twenty four years while living abroad in Australia. When Australia’s economy crashed in the 1990s, Lee returned to Canada and made a fortune supplying fuel for heavy machinery. The Vancouver Sun published an article about his property in 2015. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this project as it nears completion and will get back out on the river for updated pictures.

Former home on the property.
