One of the most iconic private estate homes in Los Angeles’ super posh Holmby Hills is back on the market for $200-million after selling 5 years ago in 2011 for $85-million. “The Manor,” was the dream of the late TV producer Aaron Spelling – whose wife, Candy Spelling, had it listed for a number of years at a firm $150 million, before accepting the substantially reduced offer from British heiress Petra Ecclestone (Stunt). It’s about 56,000 square feet with 14 bedrooms and 27 bathrooms and is said to have an additional 17,000 square feet of attic space.  One of the home’s most iconic features is the double staircase inspired by one featured in the film Gone with the Wind.  ‘When I saw Scarlett (O’Hara) coming down those stairs that is what I wanted,’ said Spelling’s widow Candy, who sold the property to Ecclestone in 2011. A lot has changed since the original sale, a substantial total renovation has transformed what was once an elegant French-inspired Château into a gleaming modernized manor suited for 21st-Century living. Renovations include a grand formal living room, projection room, bar, family room, library, office, service wing, billiards room, game room, two lane bowling alley, wine cellar and tasting room, catering kitchen, gym and a fully equipped beauty salon including masseuse and tanning rooms. The magnificent home is perched atop approximately five acres of exquisitely landscaped land in prestigious Holmby Hills. It is the largest and grandest private residence in Los Angeles. It was designed in 1988 by architects James Langenheim & Associates. Candy had originally marketed the home for $150-million several years ago, if Ecclestone gets anywhere near her $200-million ask price she’s in for a substantial profit! It’s on the market with Hilton & Hyland for $200-million. See a clip from the HGTV special ‘Selling Spelling Manor’ below chronicling the process of Candy selling the manor in 2011.
