Historic Restoration: Rock Cliff Mansion in Newport, RI by Kirby Perkins Construction

Newport, Rhode Island, United States

Originally designed in 1887 by famed architect George Mason, Jr. for T.F. Cushing, this exceptional Newport, Rhode Island manor sits proud on Bellevue Avenue with views across the water. Known as Rock Cliff, the home was originally designed in the Tudor revival style and was later redesigned in 1910 by the original architect into a Georgian neo-classical. A comprehensive restoration and rehabilitation by Kirby Perkins took place in 1999. The entire length of the mansion was dug out and a full lower level was added underneath. Kirby Perkins noted, “A new family room and kitchen trimmed in cherry were added and extensive work was completed to update the mechanical systems. The original parquet floors, wood paneling and plaster components were meticulously restored.” Scroll down to see inside this fabulous home. Architecture & interior design by Langan Design Partners, interior decoration by Kim Kirby Interior Design, and woodworking & joinerwork by Jutras Woodworking
