Stockholm, Sweden

A chance to own one of Sweden’s storied 14th-Century castles has come available and if you weight out what you get, the $4.2-million USD ask price doesn’t seem so bad! It’s called Fogelvik Slott and was originally the home of Karl Knutsson Bonde who served as King three times during the 1400s. The property was passed through his heirs, The Bonde, Gyllenstierna, Horn, Thott, Posse, and other clans, eventually leading to the current owners who, in 1995, saved the castle and grounds and restored it to its former grandeur. A formal entrance hall leads to many of the castle’s unique rooms including an ornate oval dining room with 20-foot ceilings, wall paintings by J.B. Masreleiz and access out to the terrace which overlooks the sea, an oval billiard room, and generous master suite. According to the listing, the estate is comprised of a little over 3-acres with waterfront, over 11,800 square feet of space, and 8 bedrooms. Not bad for $4.2-million USD
