A quick moving fire swept through an historic mansion known as Winfield Hall in Glen Cove, NY Wednesday morning.  The fire broke out on the first floor and spread to the second floor destroying irreplaceable items in its path.  CBS News reported that up to 100 firefighters from 8 towns responded to the blaze which lasted 90 minutes.  Its rumoured the mansion has remained empty recently, but has been used as a backdrop for film, tv, and even Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” music video.  Most of the interiors seen in the music video were shot inside Winfield Hall, while the exteriors were shot at Oheka Castle.  The mansion was constructed in 1916 for F.W. Woolworth as a replacement to his former home, which oddly enough was destroyed by fire.  It’s said that the mansion cost $9 million to construct with the grand staircase costing $2 million on its own.  The cause of the fire is under investigation and officials suggest damage will be in the millions.
