1885 Sheldon Jewett House Torn Down and Replaced by Dollar General

Custer City, Pennsylvania, United States

Six years ago this July, Custer City’s historic Sheldon Jewett House was demolished to make way for a new Dollar General. The Bradford Era reported at the time that officials representing Dollar General had looked at the possibility of moving the house to another site, but with no takers, the house was ultimately demolished. The house was built in 1885 for Sheldon Jewett, founder of Custer City, Pennsylvania.
