Purchased in 2015 by Pop singer and icon, Britney Spears, this villa located in beautiful Thousand Oaks, California consists of 5 bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms. Spears has been in the news lately regarding a legal battle between her and her father and the legal conservatorship that he holds over her. Fans have now created the #FreeBritney movement in an effort to bring awareness to the pop star’s recent unusual behaviour on Instagram. The followers believe that Spears is being held against her will at her Thousand Oaks estate. According to the New York Times, “court documents put Spear’s total assets at $57.4 million as of December 2019, including $2.7 million in cash”. Britney has been under the conservatorship for 12 years following her struggle with mental health issues and substance abuse and her father, James P. Spears, has overseen most of the pop star’s career and personal life. 

Citing health problems, James has stepped down from the role and now Britney is fighting against his return. According to Britney’s court-appointed lawyer, she would like her temporary conservator, Jodi Montgomery, to remain in the role of overseeing her mental health and a bank be in charge of the estate. The ACLU even came to the star’s defence stating in a tweet that, “People with disabilities have a right to lead self-directed lives and retain their civil rights. If Britney Spears wants to regain her civil liberties and get out of her conservatorship, we are here to help her”.

Originally listed for sale in 2013 for $12 million and later reduced to $7.5 million, Spears was able to snag the mansion for $7.4 million.
