Brittany Murphy’s Former Home Being Auctioned

Update: January 31, 2010
Brittany Murphy’s former Hollywood Hills Mansion, now owned by her mother Sharon, has been temporarily removed from the auction list.  Reports coming in say it’s to give her extra time to offload the property on her own.  It went into foreclosure earlier this month.  Sharon Murphy convinced Bank Executives to postpone the sale until February 14, to try and find a buyer herself.

Brittany Murphy’s former Hollywood Hills home where she, her late husband and Mother lived, is scheduled to be auctioned off Monday morning at 10:30 AM at the courthouse in Pomona, California.  The late actress reportedly purchased the Five Bedroom Mansion in 2003 for around $3,850,000 from Britney Spears – who at the time was sharing it with Justin Timberlake.  Spears had been at the property since 2001, when she purchased it for $2,970,000.  Murphy passed away in December 2009 after suffering cardiac arrest at the young age of 32.  She left the home and all of her assets to her mother, and only three months had passed since Brittany’s death when her mother listed the home for $7,250,000.  She took it off the market only a month after it was listed.  About two months after the home was taken off, Brittany’s widowed husband, Simon Monjack was found dead in the house.  As a little side note, court documents show that $4,000,000 is still owed on the house, which is surprising considering she reportedly purchased it for $3.8 Million.  We’ll see what happens with the auction – will it pass the original asking price of $7.25 Million, or will it fall short of what’s still owed on it?
