3901 S Gilpin Street, Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, United States, 80113
Designed to resemble an English country manor, the William R. Owen Estate in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado is made up of a variety of structures, including a complex gate house with water tower and
sprawling Tudor Revival main house with six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. It was designed by famed architects Merrill and Burnham Hoyt and built c.1923 for prominent retail executive William R. Owen. The 8,700 square foot manor is asymmetrical and measures 92-feet in length along the northeast wing and 104-feet along the northwest wing on an impressive 4.97 acre property backing the Cherry Hills Country Club. Restored and renovated in 2017 by owners Andrew and Shannon Rapp, the historic property still retains much of the original elements despite having upgraded fixtures and amenities for modern life. The unparalleled grounds contain a brick circular drive, 100-year-old specimen trees, views of Cherry Hills Country Club and the Rocky Mountains and charming outbuildings including a windmill/water tower, original chicken coop and the property’s original well. The grounds also include a tiled swimming pool, enchanted forest playground with zip line and a 60-foot x 120-foot sports court. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in August of 1999, noting, “Examination of the original plans, along with inspection of the buildings’ current condition, reveal that virtually no exterior (and few interior) alterations have occurred over the past seventy-six years. The Owen Estate is therefore in generally excellent condition and exhibits a high degree of integrity.” The William R. Owen Estate is a gleaming example of early Tudor Revival architecture. It’s on the market for $10,500,000 with LIV Sotheby’s International Realty.
