c.1927 Harvey S. Firestone Jr. Mansion in Akron, OH Reduced to $6.95M

50 Twin Oaks Road, Akron, Ohio, United States, 44313

A landmark historic property just steps from the Portage Country Club in Akron, Ohio has been reduced to $6,950,000. The palatial French-styled residence was designed by nationally known Boston architect Charles R. Greco in 1927 for Harvey S. Firestone Jr., son of the founder of the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, and his wife, Elizabeth. According to The Devil Strip, current owners, Samuel and Judith DiPaola, purchased the property in 1992 before restoring and improving the grounds. The original Louis XVI interiors were restored and include ornate crystal chandeliers, panelled walls, antique marble fireplaces and delicately detailed gilded overmantel mirrors. There is more than 10,200 square feet of space with seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a dramatic entry hall with grand staircase and second floor guest quarters. Sotheby’s noted that the original 1.9 acre property has been expanded to 3.29 acres with 933-feet of frontage on Twin Oaks Road. An adjacent 10,000 square foot brick manor is also available for purchase to create a combined 5 acre estate with over 1,300-feet of road frontage. The current 3.29 acre estate includes a carriage house, a one-acre arboretum, nine separate gardens with three fountains and a large pond. The gates, exterior and interiors of the main house have all been fully restored. The property hit the market earlier this year for $8,650,000 and has since been reduced to $6,950,000. It’s listed with Ross Lauria of Street Sotheby’s International Realty
