A 114-year-old home originally designed by architect Emil Schacht in Portland Heights that had been drastically transformed by a team of designers and contractors that included Aram Irwin of Aram Irwin Historic Home Design and Randy Chandler of RR Chandler Design Build Renovate has hit the market for $3.5 million. Irwin, who served as the project’s chief building designer, designed the home’s entire exterior, the entire layout of the interior, worked specifically on the home’s staircase, the kitchen and numerous other design details throughout the project. When the then 5,135 square foot home last sold in 2014 for $995,000, much of the interior had been painted white, the design team completely redesigned the interiors incorporating rich woods and built-ins appropriate to the period. Interior details include four stories of stairs with custom balustrades designed by Steve Bock, a dining room with built-in hutch, stained glass and a gently arched barrel ceiling and a stunning Craftsman-styled kitchen. The redesign project reportedly cost upwards of $2 million. Now nearly 8,000 square feet with 4 floors of luxury living, the home is ready for new owners. Features include a panelled attic with 14-foot ceilings, home theatre & wet bar on the lower level and a barrel vaulted dining room with custom built-ins. This Portland Heights masterpiece is on the market for $3.5 million with Krystin Bassist of Windermere Realty Trust. Check out a series of before & after renovation photos here!
