Classical Revival Home
326 Essex Road, Kenilworth, Illinois, United States, 60043
Welcome to Kenilworth’s signature home! This stately classical Greek revival home was designed by noted architect Daniel Burnham in 1896 for music publisher, Frank Root, and was built by Paul Starrett. Mr. Starrett, a Kenilworth resident, also worked with Daniel Burnham on the Lincoln Memorial and the Empire State Building.
There have been five owners of the home and during their residences enhancements included a stable, an Iron Fiske Victorian Fountain, a high painted brick wall designed by Jerome Cerny and a gazebo based on plans from Rome.
The present owners masterfully renovated the entire home, coach house and grounds with attention to detail to preserve the architectural integrity of the home while incorporating the desired amenities of today’s lifestyle.
The finest materials and craftsmanship were used to assure perfection in every room. The renovation of the interior and exterior of the home were completed in 2008. The pool was added and the expansive lawn, lush gardens, patios and terraces were designed for wonderful outdoor living and entertaining.
