A Mediterranean-style mansion in Palm Beach on a 1.02 acre property with 145-feet of direct Intracoastal frontage is on the market for $37.5 million. One of the most unique features of the property is a restored carriage house designed in 1934 by Maurice Fatio. The historic structure originally belonged to Palmerial, an estate directly across the street, and remains a landmark in the community. The 17,137 square foot main house was designed by architect Jeffrey Smith of Smith Architectural Group in 1991 and was purchased by Cobey W. Rapaport and her late husband, real estate developer Robert D. Rapaport in 1997 for $4.1 million. Jeffrey Smith also restored the original carriage house. The Palm Beach Post reported that the Rapaports carried out renovations and expanded the main house under their ownership. The listing says the home includes an elegant foyer with wrought iron spiral staircase, an oversized reception room with 20-foot ceilings, an elaborate columned dining room with space for 30 guests, a 60-foot formal living room, plaster mouldings and fantastic water views. The grounds include a motor-court with four-car garage, swimming pool, fountains and private dock. The listing does mention that the property is sold as-is. It’s on the market for $37.5 million with Christian Angle Real Estate.
