Professional golfer Greg Norman has pulled the plug on trying to sell his sprawling 26,000 square foot home on Jupiter Island and instead has ordered it to be demolished. This comes after trying to find a buyer for the tropical oasis for several years and dropping the price from $65,000,000 to $55,000,000. Norman posted a photo of the demolition to his social media accounts on July 21, 2018 with the caption: “There one minute gone the next. The main house has stood proudly since 1902 with a few additions added since owning this magnificent property from 1991 on Jupiter Island, it was time to take down the old and bring in the new, which we hope to have completed by end of 2019.” He purchased the expansive 8 acre ocean-to-intracoastal estate in 1991 for just $4,900,000. The property was known as Tranquility and included one of the oldest homes on Jupiter Island having been built in 1902 and renovated and expanded over the years. An aerial image below reveals the 26,000 square foot main house had been given an overhaul as recent as 2009. The property also offered 172 feet of oceanfront, garage space for 14 vehicles, a coach house, carriage house and and a charming beach house overlooking the ocean. In total the estate offered 10 bedrooms, 14 full and 3 half bathrooms. The resort-style grounds included a professional tennis court and pavilion, skate park, 165 foot deepwater dock, resort-style pool area with Polynesian-style grill house and of course a putting green. Greg Norman is reportedly worth close to $300,000,000.
