Greenwich, Connecticut, United States
Award-winning architectural firm Shope Reno Wharton has put their stamp on a distanced peninsula location in Greenwich, Connecticut. The original 1960s home sold for $13,301,000 in September 2012. It was knocked down and the 1.8 acre waterfront property was cleared for new construction. Don H. Aitken of Shope Reno Wharton was commissioned to design a new nearly 10,000 square foot stone mansion with large verandahs capable of being closed off, a stone terrace and infinity edge swimming pool overlooking the Long Island Sound. Aitken worked alongside Linda Ruderman of Linda Ruderman Interiors, Ken Bacco of Bacco Inc. and Janice Parker of Janice Parker Landscape Architecture. Given the waterfront location, the home was designed and finished to last through the seasons and storms with ease. Mahogany doors and windows were fitted and the roof finished in slate.
