Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.  It’s been labelled as the ‘ugliest house in America’, neighbours have complained of smelling mold, while others planted trees to block the view of the eyesore. It was built by Jerry A. Hosteler over many years, spans 29,500 square feet, and sits on a 1.66-acre lot. Hosteler bought the original property in the 1960s when he was just 23, and throughout the years purchased neighbouring properties to make space for the monstrosity we see today. He died in 2006 at the age of 66 and the property has remained mostly empty ever since. The Daily Mail reported in 2013 that the property was then owned by Chad Folkening, a Florida businessman, who originally put the house on the market for $2.2-million in 2012 before dropping it to $1.295-million.  Today, the nearly 30,000 square foot residence can be purchased for just $875,000. The listing description writes, “this home needs to be known for the beautiful architecture and design that has been created inside, from sculptured ceilings, custom staircases, amethyst stone work, and much more.” Scroll down and take a look inside and then decide if this home is worthy of being known for the “beautiful architecture and design.” Regardless of how you feel about the looks of this palatial home, there is no doubt that $875K for 29,500 square feet is a deal. We’ll just have to wait and see if anybody is crazy enough to take on this project. It’s listed at $875,000 with Melissa Foddrill of Krg Plus, Llc.
