A brick Georgian Colonial manor on a 5.44 acre estate in Cold Spring Harbor is on the market for $7.3 million. The sprawling property last sold in 2012 for $5.3 million and hit the market in 2017 for $13.8 million. It was on the market in 2020 for $9.8 million. Financier J.P. Morgan Jr. purchased the 22,000 square foot manor in 1933 as a wedding gift for his daughter. According to Newsday, Morgan’s daughter, Jane Nichols, lived in the mansion until her death in 1981. The Nature Conservancy acquired her 97 acre property, a working dairy farm called Uplands Farm, a little at a time before Nichols bequeathed the rest of the land to the Conservancy after her death, according to a 1987 report in The New York Times. The current owners have restored and renovated the four-storey residence which includes 8 bedroom, 10.5 bathrooms, formal entertaining rooms, a new double-island kitchen, custom bar, home theatre and fitness studio. The grounds include a winding driveway, courtyard, fountains and swimming pool with adjacent pool house. The property is on the market for $7.3 million with Kathryn Maxwell of Sotheby’s International Realty.
