Holmby Hills Iconic 56,000 Sq. Ft. Spelling Manor Reduced to $175M, Prev. $200M
594 S MAPLETON DRIVE, LOS ANGELES, UNITED STATES, 90024
One of the most iconic estate properties in Los Angeles’ super posh Holmby Hills has been reduced to $175,000,000. The nearly five acre estate was previously listed as much as $200,000,000 after selling 7 years ago in 2011 for $85,000,000. “The Manor,” was the dream of the late TV producer Aaron Spelling – whose wife, Candy Spelling, had it listed for a number of years at a firm $150,000,000. Spelling accepted an offer of $85,000,000 in 2011 from British heiress Petra Ecclestone (Stunt). The Manor spans 56,000 square feet with 14 bedrooms and 27 bathrooms and is said to have an additional 17,000 square feet of attic space. One of the home’s most iconic features is the double staircase inspired by one featured in the film Gone with the Wind. ‘When I saw Scarlett (O’Hara) coming down those stairs that is what I wanted,’ said Spelling’s widow Candy. A lot has changed since the sale, a substantial total renovation has transformed what was once an elegant French-inspired Château into a gleaming modernized manor suited for 21st-Century living. Renovations include a grand formal living room, projection room, bar, family room, library, office, service wing, billiards room, game room, two lane bowling alley, wine cellar and tasting room, catering kitchen, gym and a fully equipped beauty salon including masseuse and tanning rooms. The magnificent home is perched atop approximately five acres of exquisitely landscaped land in prestigious Holmby Hills. It is said to be the largest and grandest private residence in Los Angeles. It was designed in 1988 by architects James Langenheim & Associates. It’s on the market with Hilton & Hyland for $175,000,000.
