House on Point by Christopher Pagliaro Architects

Connecticut, United States

Christopher Pagliaro Architects: “As commanding and stoic as a lighthouse. This private Connecticut property is situated on a quarter-acre peninsula jutting out into Long Island Sound, a point of land projecting a classic cove with beach and anchorage. Views wrap themselves around the property, including the New York City skyline. This stone castle was designed to tower above Nor’easter waves. The lowest story is a stone arcade accommodating the site and vehicles. As the house rises through two and a half more levels, the stone gives way to weathered slates cladding walls transitioning to roofs. The house curves out to sea like a wave; the solidity of the masonry is eroded by increasing panes of glass. The few interior walls bend with the house and slope to accommodate its form.”
