Purchased in 2017 by Jay Leno and wife, Mavis, for $13.5 million, this 15,861 square foot gated mansion in Newport, Rhode Island was built to complement the curve of the coast. Designed by British architect William Mackenzie Jr. and built in 1936 for Vernor Zevola Reed Jr., Seafair is constructed of rubble stone, features a slate roof, and sits on 9 acres of ocean frontage. Leno recently opened up to Forbes about the purchase, stating that he and his wife weren’t planning on moving back east, but instead came across the house while exploring Ocean Avenue. He made an offer to buy the house as-is, fully furnished and closed in 30 days. The main house offers 12 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a panelled library, formal dining room, and a chef’s kitchen. The grounds also showcase a tennis court, an infinity-edge pool, carriage cottage, six-car garage, and private beaches. The house had previously been on the market as much as $19 million.
