Ocala, Florida, United States
Home to John Travolta and the late Kelly Preston, the couple was one of the first to purchase their mid-century style home in Jumbolair Aviation Estates, a residential airpark near Ocala, Florida. Travolta, a flight enthusiast and pilot, has five planes including a Boeing 707 named “Jett Clipper Ella”. The nearly 7,000 square foot home sits on 19.5 acres and includes 5 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, and a landing terrace with enough space for two planes. The great room features tall, curved walls and floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the plane pavilions and tarmac. Travolta has a Gulfstream II jet parked in one of the pavilions. Originally containing a 7,500 foot runway, the couple extended the taxiway to reach the estate. According to Architectural Digest, “Travolta’s office features his Qantas 747 pilot certificate, his American Airlines Boeing 707 pilot certificate, an award for excellence in aviation from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and a photograph of the actor in his ultralight over Florida”. Travolta even stated that the home is “overbuilt” and that the walls are “thicker than they need to be” and there’s “more metal in it than there needs to be”. The entire community of Jumbolair is 500 acres and is situated at Greystone Airport. Photography by Durston Saylor.
