A substantial 522 acre private sanctuary in the Southwest Mountains and the heart of Keswick, Virginia has sold for $6.2 million after recently being reduced to $6.7 million. It’s known as Bramblewood Farm and was designed by architectural firm Dalgliesh Gilpin Paxton Architects. The 14,000 square foot main house sits on an impressive property with mature landscaping, two ponds, a barn and two additional homes. The six bedroom primary residence features Italian plaster walls and ceilings, limestone flooring and mouldings, six fireplaces, his and her studies, custom and antique lighting and a large barrel-vaulted living room.

Architectural firm Dalghliesh Gilpin Paxton Architects gave insight into the home on their project page: “Our clients asked us to design a refined French Country home using low maintenance, yet livable, materials. We designed a fieldstone house with limestone accents and classical detailing to look as though it grew from the surrounding mountain landscape. The house’s spine is situated on an east/west axis to maximize southern views and natural light, and to enhance the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. In contrast to the expansive southern views, the north side of the house with its mountain backdrop provides a secluded refuge. The screened porch on this side of the arcade offers a cool, shaded oasis in summer months, as well as a protected cozy outdoor room with fireplace in cool weather.” The Bramblewood website also supplied a set of site and floor plans of the residence.
