Lake Geneva Lake House by Michael Abraham Architecture
Wisconsin, United States
What’s not to like about a lake house, especially one as charming and detailled as this on Geneva Lake in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. It was designed by Illinois-based architectural firm Michael Abraham Architecture and built by Scherrer Construction Co. The commanding waterfront home rises three stories with a steeply pitched slate roof, towering chimneys and a gently sloping landscaped yard leading to the water’s edge. It was designed and built to give the feeling of having been there for a very long time, an article of Luxe reveals that materials were reclaimed whenever possible, including the slate roof from a cottage that originally stood on the build site. Additional reclaimed materials include interior beams, stone walls and oak ceilings – each adding character and interest. There is more than 12,000 square feet of space with eight bedrooms and ten bathrooms. A charming carriage house was also built adjacent to the main house and designed to match the architecture. The park-like setting was professionally landscaped by Artemisia Landscape Architecture and the interiors were furnished by Glen Lusby Interiors.
