230 Pisgah Pike, Versailles, Kentucky, United States
Details are a little vague. The official Facebook page for the Kentucky Castle has put out a call looking to find somebody to “influence” or have the “backing of a person or entity with substantial hospitality experience” to fully realize the potential of the castle, while the official listing for the castle clearly lists it for sale for an undisclosed amount. It seems the current owners are possibly looking to stay on board with the help of a wealthy and knowledgable investor. Whichever the case, the Kentucky Castle is about the most unique destination you’ll find in Versailles. WKYT reported that the castle is currently owned by a group of investors, including two University of Kentucky Hospital doctors, who purchased it for $8.7 million from a Miami lawyer in 2017. Previous to that, the 19,000 square foot castle had been on the market as much as $30 million in 2013/14. According to the listing, the current owners have invested over $2 million into renovating the castle which has resulted in a 650% revenue increase since 2017. It was also named ‘The Most Beautiful Hotel in Kentucky’ by Architectural Digest in 2018 and awarded the ‘Certificate of Excellence’ by Trip Advisor in 2019. Upgrades include a new spa, swimming pool, sauna, facelift to the rooms and a new three-bedroom, two-bathroom luxury cabin. The 19,355 square foot castle was built in 1980 and currently sits on a 53 acre estate with 17 rooms spread over two stories. The listing can be found on LoopNet.
