This California mansion could become the most expensive US property to be sold at auction when it hits the auction block next month.  Originally listed at $65 Million US, the opening bid for the auction will be set at $22 Million US.  The home is approx. 10,480 square feet and includes 6 bedrooms, 9.5 bathrooms, a custom state of the art home theatre, a 75′ two lane lap pool, a gymnasium and a paneled library with aquarium.  If sold, after moving into “Billionaire Beach” the new owners would call Tom Hanks, Barbara Streisand and Sting their neighbours.  Carol Bird of Westside Estate Agency explains, “It’s on a particularly wonderful spot which is very sandy.  In Malibu, beaches have public access by law, but it’s 300 metres from any public access so you don’t have people walking in front of you.”  The auction is set for September 18, 2011, but could be sold before if an acceptable offer comes in.
