Once the Most Expensive Listing in Canada

3195 Humber Road, Uplands, Oak Bay, British Columbia, Canada

3195 Humber Road, or ‘Sweet Pea’ was the most expensive listing on the MLS in Canada in 2007.  The custom 15,900 square foot home on 2.5 acres was listed for a staggering $28,500,000.  According to Vibrant Victoria the home was owned by Pamela and Todd Axelrod, owner’s of the U.S. based ‘Gallery of History Inc.’, a public company dealing in rare documents and memorabilia.  The unique estate offered 450 meters of rocky oceanfront, and included 7 bedrooms, doors covered in gold leaf, an indoor swimming pool and spa, state-of-the-art media room, and  an ultra-high tech security system. It was designed by Chow Low Hammond Architects Inc. and built by Canpro Construction Ltd.  The Sound Source who did much of the installation of home automation says when the front doorbell is pressed, the Superman theme plays through the house speakers.  In addition there are numerous touch panels throughout, over 20 zones of HVAC, a full 5.1 system built into the master suite, roller blinds, & exterior shutters.
