One of the East Coast’s most illustrious estates, Long Point is located on a private peninsula surrounded by the Navesink River.  A masterwork of Shingle-Style architecture designed by Shope Reno Wharton.  Built by Pete and Judi Dawkins, the 18 room mansion at 80 West River Road sold for a staggering $12 million – breaking a previous record sale price of $9.9 million.  Originally listed as high as $29.9 million, dropping to $19.5 million shortly after and eventually selling for $12 million.  The estate includes an 18,000 square foot home with six bedroom and seven bathrooms.  “It was the most amazingly built house. The attention to detail they put into it was beyond anything I have ever seen,” says the buyer’s agent Kelly Zaccaro.  The Dawkins purchased the property over 10 years ago for around $4.5 million.  After a year, they decided to dismantle the existing house.  They brought in noted architect Bernard Wharton, who designed their dream house, which was completed in 2004.  Named Long Point, it sits on a private peninsula that gives its owners a 270-degree view of the river.  It has a swimming pool, hot tub, wine cellar with sitting and tasting rooms, caretaker’s cottage, cedar closets, beam ceilings and a six-car garage with ceramic tiles.
