Nicolas Cage’s Former Pacific Heights Mansion Goes Modern, Lists for $12M
1945 Franklin Street, San Francisco, California, United States, 94109
A stately c.1898 Victorian mansion in San Francisco’s historic Pacific Heights neighbourhood is back on the market following a total home modernization. Property records reveal it last being listed for $2,750,000 before selling for $2,525,000 in 2013. It was owned by actor Nicolas Cage as well as Werner Erhard, founder of Erhard Seminars Training. The original 5,255 square foot floor plan was expanded to just under 7,000 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. It’s just come back on the market for $12,000,000. The reimagining of the interior spaces included the removal and enlarging of an archway from the living room to the dining room, the removal of a wall and window to open the dining room to the kitchen, new flooring throughout and painting nearly every foot of original woodwork. While the mouldings and ceiling details were painted white, the grand staircase was painted a contrasting black. An old listing described the home as being, “elegant with large scale rooms and beautiful detailing and woodwork,” while the new listing calls it a, “modern 21st century lifestyle.” We found a collection of old listing photos here. How do you feel about the changes? It’s on the market for $12,000,000 with Coldwell Banker.
