Laneway houses are extremely popular in Vancouver right now, but how much would you be willing to pay to live in somebody’s backyard?  Expect to pay $3,195/month for this one.  Roughly 900 permits have been issued & more than 500 lane houses built since the bylaw was passed in 2009.

This 1,000 square foot example in the Dunbar area of Vancouver offers 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, and an open room containing the kitchen & living area.  As a bonus there is also a small deck.  The house comes fully furnished with everything you’d need from cooking utensils, dishes & cutlery, to linens, basic bath essentials and a plasma tv.

It’s new, visually appealing, and perfect for one person or a couple at the very most.  The owners will even allow the new tenants to bring in a small dog.  You’ll need to sign a lease of at least two months at $3,195/month not including gas or electric bringing your minimum rent to $6,390.  Seems a bit excessive for a 1,000 square foot house in somebody’s backyard.
