By 2006 the Wood family purchased the residence, working to return the Castle to a single-family residence through major renovations.” The 7,322 square foot mansion went up for sale in 2009 for $1.69 million and sold three years later for $1 million. It was put back on the market in 2015 for $1.2 million before Brandon Rigger and Billy Bergeron submitted an offer for $960,000 in 2017. The paired opened Castle La Crosse in May 2017. The new owners told WKBT TV, “It’s our home, but it’s not been open to the public in decades, so we’ve opened up probably the finest example of grand 19th century architecture in the region, to guests.” The award-winning Bed & Breakfast includes four guest suites named after exquisite woods used throughout the home.
