A landmark home on a tree-lined street surrounded by equally impressive historic properties in Saint Paul, Minnesota has been reduced to $2,250,000 $2,290,000. Known as the Schuneman Mansion, it was built for Carl Shuneman of Shuneman’s Department Store and was designed by renowned architect Allen Stem of Stem and Haslund in 1925, the same firm who designed Grand Central Station in New York City. The Shuneman Mansion was purchased in 2013 for $724,000 by Ed and Sara Conley who embarked on a year long restoration and renovation of the historic property. According to TwinCities.com, the mansion had previously been sectioned off into several small rooms. One of the first things the couple did was to remove 22 interior doors and open up the space. They also reduced the number of bedrooms from twelve to six and bathrooms from ten to six. Some noteworthy details include the addition of a $10,000 custom made tub in the master ensuite, a $6,000 wheeled ladder system in the library and chandeliers from the Governor’s Residence in the dining room, while each of the arched doorways throughout the home are made up of 268 individual pieces. TwinCities.com also noted that Ed tracked down the English bell maker who created the bells for Downton Abbey and had him create a set for his home. The Shuneman Mansion is on the market for $2,250,000 $2,290,000 $2,350,000 with Steve Norton.
