Shelter Island, Flathead Lake, Montana, United States

Real Estate Tycoon Donald Abbey has reduced his private island on Flathead Lake for the second time in less than a month.  The substantial property first came on the market at $105 million before being reduced to $78 million.  Abbey then reduced the price to just $68 million in mid February, and most recently reduced it to $59.5 million.  It’s reported that there is 50,000 square feet of development including the 24,000 square foot main house.  ‘Shelter Island’ is also said to be the largest private home in Montana.  What we see today is the product of 10 years of planning and building which includes details such as African-sawn mahogany, Italian marble, and Portuguese limestone.  There is also a shooting range, built-in boathouse, and a 4,500 square foot guest quarters.  Donald Abbey also has a palatial 47,000 square foot mansion in Bradbury, CA listed at $68.8 million.
