Louisiana, United States
We’ve posted all kinds of restoration projects, both large and small and from various locations, but this charmer in Louisiana might take the cake. The mid-1920s cottage was beautifully brought back to life by Sara from Simply Southern Cottage, who shared the entire process across her social media. “I felt in my bones it was time to fulfill my lifelong dream of owning an old home. So I set out to find the perfect house,” she wrote, explaining that the house had to be close to 2,000 square feet with at least 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, in a safe neighbourhood and at least 50 years old. Sara revealed, “After searching and searching for about 10-11 months, I found it! A beautiful, broken down cottage located just on the edge of the Historic Residential District in Minden, Louisiana.” Most people might have been intimidated by the derelict and overgrown state of the property, not Sara though, she was open to a fixer-upper. It took some sleuthing to track down who owned it and plenty of time waiting for the owners to sell. Sara embarked on a major restoration project that would drastically transform the cottage into a show-stopping home right off the pages of a magazine.
