Spectacular 17 Acre Seaside Retreat in New England by Oak Hill Architects
New England, United States
Oak Hill Architects transformed a mostly vacant 17 acre oceanfront property in New England into a show-stopping seaside retreat with spectacular shingled main house. The firm was commissioned to design a multi-generational family home to serve as a place for family and friends to gather, both formally and informally. It was designed in a U-shape with a courtyard entry, allowing all the major living spaces to have views of the water. Inside you’ll find comfortable yet elegant spaces, including a gorgeous wood panelled library with built-ins, a bright formal dining room with pocket doors and a custom gourmet kitchen with cabinets in a stormy blue colour crafted by a local millworker. It’s unknown just how many bedrooms or bathrooms the property offers, however, it does include a lovely main floor master suite with built in window seating and three French doors opening to the ocean. There is also a screened porch complete with full bath and kitchenette, it leads directly to the pool and manicured lawns. In addition to the main house, Oak Hill Architects also designed a matching guest house accessed via a covered connection between the main living areas. An old carriage house on the north end of the property was also retained. Scroll down a take a tour inside this truly wonderful seaside retreat.
