Sprawling Car Enthusiast’s Shingle Style Lake House by Lowell Custom Homes
Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, United States
A custom lake house with no less than twenty garage bays and a presence on Geneva Lake like no other has become the talk of the lake. The sprawling shingle style residence was custom built to exacting standards by Wisconsin-based homebuilders Lowell Custom Homes in 2016 for a homeowner with a passion for cars. That passion ensured that there would be an abundance of garage space. It’s owned by American businessman and owner of Mecum Auctions, Dana Mecum and wife, Patti. The residence spans more than 33,000 square feet and houses an impressive car collection. There is a custom fieldstone show garage with glass garage doors, porcelain flooring and a rooftop swimming pool and pool house. Interior details of the main house include a large living room with a beamed ceiling overlooking the lake and a custom kitchen with brick barrel vault ceiling. The roof is cedar shake with copper gutters and downspouts. Also on the property is a boat house, docks and water feature. The architecture is classic shingle style popularized in New England and is right at home on Geneva Lake in Wisconsin. Photography by Victoria McHugh Photography.
