Texas Dentist Cuts Price, Sq. Ft. and Acreage of Palatial Château, now $15.9M
1071 Strait Lane, Dallas, Texas, United States, 75229
One of the most talked about private homes in Texas is making news again with a few major changes to the listing. Not only has the price dropped from $23,950,000 to $15,950,000 but the size of the home has been reduced from 37,000 square feet to 21,500 square feet, eliminating the attached “sports house” and resort-style backyard, but don’t worry a modest swimming pool is still included. The property has also been reduced from 4.36 acres to 2.38 acres. You can still buy the entire 37,000 square foot mansion for $23,950,000. If somebody is interested in the smaller offering, we’re unsure how they plan on dissecting it from the estate as the two properties are intertwined with one another. The listing says the home includes 6 bedrooms, 7 full & 5 half bathrooms, a 6 car garage, sports court, tennis court and swimming pool. The estate was the dream of Texas dentist Richard Malouf who was widely criticized during construction. Malouf purchased the neighbouring property and converted the home into a full-scale sports gymnasium and connected the two structures with extensive garaging with a bowling alley above. Before the major addition, his original home offered close to 15,000 square feet of space and was designed by Robbie Fusch and built by Bob Thompson in 2003. The estate as a whole, includes a magnificent private waterpark with a variety of different waterslides with caves, a large resort-style swimming pool, cabanas, spray park, and a massive lazy river.
