The Egan House, Circa 1959! Architect Robert Reichert-Designed! $945K in Seattle

$945,200 | 1959 | 1,190 Sq. Ft. | 2 Beds | 2 Baths | 1 Acre
1500 Lakeview Blvd E, Seattle, WA 98102

Designed by iconic architect Robert Reichert, the Egan House is both literally and figuratively a landmark. This bold, sculptural home, dramatically sited in St. Marks greenbelt, is both emblematic of and in contrast with midcentury modern architecture. Reichert prioritized the economy and material innovation of the time, but he also described his designs as romantic rather than functionalsculptural in form and traditional in mannerism. The Egan House, with its stark geometric shapes and sleek black & white color scheme unapologetically emphasizes its stand-out qualities. While some details (floating staircase, open volumes, ) were aligned with a formal Modernist approach, others were imbued with romance and an art-first attitude. The land is owned by the City of Seattle as part of a Greenbelt, with an easement agreement that extends to the year 2153. (The homeowner has access and use of the site, but not ownership).
