The Today Show goes inside Florida’s Versailles

6121 Kirkstone Lane, Windermere, Florida, United States

See an update on Florida’s Versailles here. This morning The Today Show went inside the unfinished estate, known as Versailles, in Windermere, Florida.  The 90,000 square foot palace is owned by David Siegel and wife Jackie, and was the topic behind the film Queen of Versailles.  The couple’s current 26,000 square foot home, which was also featured in the film, is a short drive away.  Upon completion Versailles will include a grand ballroom, 10 kitchens, three swimming pools, a roller rink, two tennis courts, bowling lanes, and a 30-car garage. Construction was halted on the palatial residence during the economic meltdown and the mansion was set to go into foreclosure.  The Today Show reported that construction has resumed on the home but there will still be 3 years of construction. According to the listing over $4 million was spent on 160 triple paned windows and Brazilian mahogany French doors.  Jackie told The Today Show, “We are finishing it to actually finish it, but we do want to live there.”  However the mansion is still listed with Lorraine Barrett for $65 million.
