Tour the Fort Langley, BC House from Rob Lowe’s “The Bad Seed”

Fort Langley, British Columbia, Canada

Rob Lowe made his directorial début with his remake of the 1956 cult classic The Bad Seed which premiered tonight on Lifetime, and if like us, you were likely gazing between scenes for further glimpses of the picture-perfect country home used in the film. Lowe also served as executive producer and stars in the film, alongside Mckenna Grace. We’ve been anticipating the remake since the teaser trailer was released in mid-July, but it was only tonight when we realized it was actually filmed on location here in British Columbia! The tv movie filmed in and around Vancouver for 25 days in March of this year, they spent a substantial amount of time filming exterior and interior shots at a gated property in rural Langley. We’ve tracked down that very house, and boy oh boy, it’s just as beautiful as it appears on screen. An old real estate listing describes it as being, “the finest luxury home that’s ever hit the Fort Langley area!” It was designed by the award winning team at Su Casa Design and custom built in 2016. It sits privately on over an acre of land just minutes from downtown Fort Langley and offers just under 6,000 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The home features gorgeous wide plank white oak hardwood flooring, Colorado Gold Calcutta countertops, 15 foot California LaCantina doors, a custom limestone mantel and built-in speakers throughout. In the film, the home belongs to David Grossman (Lowe) and his daughter, Emma (Grace), who cope with tragedy at her school. However, he begins to wonder if she played a role in the incident. Further events occur, and he not only must protect her secret, but also prevent her from striking again. There were a few fun references in the film, such as bringing back Patty McCormack, the original actress who portrayed Rhoda Penmark, as a psychologist, as well as having Emma read The Outsiders, which when turned into a film in 1984 became one of Lowe’s first roles as an actor, playing Sodapop Curtis. If you missed the premiere tonight, be sure to check your local listings to catch the next showing! Did you watch tonight? What did you think of the remake? Scroll down and a take a tour inside the gorgeous country home used in Rob Lowe’s The Bad Seed. Also if you’re from Vancouver then you likely recognized a few other filming locations in the movie!
