A vacant 11,000 square foot château set on nearly an acre of land in Holmby Hills has hit the market for $22.5 million. The property previously came on the market in 2017 for $22.5 million but failed to find a buyer. According to Mansion Global, current owner Patrice Tarsey purchased the chateau, which was built for Colleen Knapp, whose family founded Architectural Digest, in 1992 for an undisclosed amount. According to the listing, the 11,000 square foot residence was modelled after Versailles’ Petit Trianon. Enter the grand residence through 14-foot glass and verdigris wrought iron doors, one is greeted by daylight from a 46-foot-high dome two stories overhead. Suspended from the center of the dome, a massive 18th century baccarat crystal chandelier.

The library, 790 square foot living room, formal dining room and two marble powder rooms, all with high ceilings and large French doors, surround the entry. The 1,800 square foot master bedroom suite contains 3 fire places, a sitting room, several balconies, wet bars and a marble spa. There are 3 separate guest suites with private baths, self contained staff quarters and an elevator servicing all 3 floors. It’s on the market for $22.5 million with Gregory Bega of Sotheby’s International Realty.
