1850 Marine Drive, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, V6P 6B2
Having a large lot can be a terrible thing for some of Vancouver’s oldest mansions. Situated on a 0.84 acre lot on Marine Drive is this gorgeous mansion dating back to 1932. The residence is currently listed at
$5.799 million $5.699 million reduced to $5,390,000 with the first line of the description noting, “Rarely available 36,398 square foot lot, can build a 21,000 square foot mansion.” It’s never good news when the first thing the agent mentions is the size of “what can be built.”
An old listing showing the mansion listed at $3.8 million describes it as a “Grand Heritage B” estate. According to Vancouver.ca Heritage B properties represent a good example of a particular style or type, and it may have some documented historical or cultural significance in a neighbourhood. The current listing doesn’t mention any Heritage B status on the property.
The listing does describe it as a beautiful private home from an era past and that it requires restoration to bring it up to its former grandeur. Based solely on the photos it looks pretty good. The three storey floor plan includes 4,815 of finished square feet and an additional 1,800 of unfinished square feet. There are 6 bedrooms & 6 bathrooms. The property also includes views of the Fraser River, Mountains, Airport, & Delta. Sadly the future for this old mansion doesn’t look good.
